Abstract
In present paper, we describe in vitro drug interactions of antidiabetic agents; gliquidone and pioglitazone hydrochloride with an antihypertensive, losartan potassium. Co-administration of antihypertensive and antidiabetic drugs is most common, as both of these ailments are synergistic to each other and often occur together. These studies were carried out in different pH environments simulating human body compartments and using UV spectrophotometer and HPLC. Antidiabetic agents and losartan were found to inhibit or enhance each other's availability, which may affect their therapeutic efficacy. These results were further verified by IR and NMR spectroscopic studies and computational molecular modeling.
