Abstract
Current static‐width channelisation in WLANs is spectrally inefficient resulting into wastage of scarce bandwidth resource. The aim of this research work is to efficiently manage wireless spectrum for achieving high throughput gains by implementing adaptable width channelisation in WLANs. A novel algorithm is proposed which assigns channel widths dynamically based on the bandwidth requirements and investigate its impact on key network performance parameters such as throughput, interference and percentage spectrum utility. The experimental results demonstrate significant throughput gains as compared with the existing methods.
