Abstract
A case of spontaneous intraperitoneal rupture of urinary bladder in an inpatient admitted for ethanol abuse, presenting as diffuse generalized peritonitis is described. Preoperative diagnosis was difficult. CT scan of abdomen and pelvis was misleading, and the correct diagnosis was reached on exploration of the abdomen. Perioperative and postoperative recovery was uneventful.
