Abstract
The energy of combustion of D,L-alpha-alanyl-D,L-valine was determined by burning it in oxygen in a bomb calorimeter. The standard enthalpies of combustion and formation were calculated for crystalline D,L-alpha-alanyl-D,L-valine. The heats of dissolution of crystalline D,L-alpha-alanyl-D,L-valine in water and potassium hydroxide solutions at 298.15 K were determined using direct calorimetry. The standard enthalpies of formation of the dipeptide and the products of its dissociation in aqueous solutions were calculated.
