Abstract
An explicit set of star-delta transformations is given for probabilistic flow networks whenever the initial star branches are bidirectional with the same branch flow capacity in both directions. These transformations, together with their (already known) dual transformations, can be used to simplify the given network before applying the various algorithms available for the solution of the network flow problem. The superiority of the present star-delta transformations to other existing transformations is pointed out, and their usefulness is illustrated via the example of a small power generation and transmission network.
