Abstract
Silver hexafluorides Ag sub(3)MF sub(6) (M = Al, V, Cr, Fe, Co, Ga, In) of the cryolite-related type have been synthesized. Structural phase transitions have been detected using X-ray diffraction and thermal measurements. A cubic Fm3m high-temperature form has been characterized for every ternary fluorides. The magnetic behavior of the phases containing the Cr super(3+), V super(3+) and Fe super(3+) ions has been investigated.
