Abstract
In this work, nanoparticles of Co0.5Ni0.5Fe2-xO4 (x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0) were successfully synthesized via the co-precipitation method. Their structural and magnetic properties were studied using Xray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometery (VSM) techniques. XRD technique showed that the average crystallite sizes of the samples were in the range -18 -27 nm. SEM showed uniform particle size of nanoparticles. Saturation Magnetization (M-s) decreased from 60.94 to 49.37 emu/gr as a function of Cr content for x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.5 and then increased from 52.88 to 60.80 emu/gr for x = 0.75,1.0. The values of the coercivity (H-C) decreased from 542.63 to 113.99 Oe with x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.5 and then increased from 190.42 to 232.55 Oe for x = 0.75, 1.0. Low-cytotoxicity effects of Co0.5Ni0.5Fe2-xO4 (x = 0.25) nanoparticles at high concentrations on colon (HT-29) cancer cell lines were confirmed by the 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay.
