2-chloronicotinate) have been prepared and spectroscopic studied. Both the [CuX
2(3PM)
2]
n
compounds seem to possess octahedral copper(II) stereochemistry with differing tetragonal distortions. The copper(II) atoms of [Cu
3(2-Clnic)
6(μ-3PM)
4(3PM)
2]
n
are tetragonal bipyramidal and tetragonal pyramidal.

is a two-dimensional coordination polymer. The compound [Cu
3(2-Clnic)
6(μ-3PM)
4(3PM)
2]
n
is 1-D “accordion chains” coordination polymer with different coordination environment around copper(II) atoms. The copper(II) atoms have tetragonal bipyramidal and tetragonal pyramidal environment.
