Abstract
We present a study of three B-o decay modes useful for time-dependent CP asymmetry measurements. From a sample of 9.7x10(6) B (B) over bar meson pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we have reconstructed B-o --> J/psi K-s(o), B-o-->chi(c1) K-s(o), and B-o --> J/psi pi(o) decays. The latter two decay modes have been observed for the first time. We describe a K-s(o)-->pi(o)pi(o) detection technique and its application to the reconstruction of the decay B-o --> J/psi K-s(o). Combining the results obtained using K-s(o)-->pi(+)pi(-) and K-s(o)-->pi(o)pi(o) decays, we determine B(B-o -->J/psi K-o)= (9.5+/-0.8+/-0.6) x 10(-4), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second one is systematic. We also obtain B(B-o-->chi(c1)K(o))=(3.9(-1.3)(+1.9) +/-0.4) x 10(-4) and B(B-o-->J/psi pi(o)) = (2.5(-0.9)(+1.1) +/- 0.2)x 10(-5).
