Abstract
•CdO-ZnO-P2O5 glasses doped with B2O3 and CuO have prepared.•Raman spectra showed the presence of phosphate groups in Q2, Q1, and Q0 units.•Copper oxide acts as band pass filter in the optical region of UV and NIR.•Borate dopant confirms the damping behavior of phosphate glasses.
Phosphate glasses containing different additives of cadmium, zinc, borate, and copper oxides have prepared through melt annealing technique. Copper oxide introduced as a fixed dopant of 0.01 mole and the borate units intercalated the glass network at the expense of cadmium ions. Raman spectra of the studied glasses show the vibration of phosphate units in Q2, Q1, and Q0. The optical transmittance and the optical parameters such as optical band gap, refractive index, and dielectric constant were investigated and recorded as a function of borate units. Density measurements were examined and found to decrease as the borate units increase. The dynamic parameters such as damping ratio and natural frequency of the presented samples were investigated.
