Abstract
Scytalidium dimidiatum synanamorphe of Nattrassia mangiferae has been increasingly reported as a cause of dermatomycosis mainly in patients from tropical and subtropical areas. Recently deep infections were described in immunocompromised patients. We report the first case of Scytalidium subcutaneous infection in a Tunisian diabetic patient who was admitted for subcutaneous nodular lesions and lymphangitis of the left leg. No bacteria were cultured from the lesions. S. dimidiatum was isolated from three consecutive samples as a pure culture in Sabouraud chloramphenicol medium. Complete recovery was obtained after surgical curetting followed by amphotericin B and fluconazole treatment.
