Abstract
A 7-year-old female has presented with localized neck mass since birth. The subsequently identified mass was completely resected from the patient's neck. The mass was diagnosed as a bronchogenic cyst using histopathology. While the prognosis for these cysts is good, long-term follow-up remains necessary for such patients because there are several reports in the literature indicating the potential for malignancy to develop. Bronchogenic cysts (BC) are congenital abnormalities that occur most commonly within the mediastinum, so neck bronchogenic cyst seems to be the rather exceptional site of usual location. These lesions should remain on the differential diagnosis in cases of unusual masses in the region of the neck.
