Abstract
Local animal bone fat was chemically treated with sodium sulfite via epoxidation in presence of an heterogeneous catalyst, Dowex 50wx2-200. This approach was to avoid fatty matter degradation when using direct oxidation. A high stability fatliquoring agent was produced. The fatliquor enhanced the mechanical properties of leather, including tensile strength, elongation at break %, and also exhibited better appearance. catalyst (Dowex 50 WX2) which was used to increase
