Abstract
Most existing wormhole networks do not provide support for prioritized traffic at the link level. Conventional demand multiplexing does not allow flexibility for fast movement of high priority messages such as for synchronization and control information. In this paper, an approach to prioritized physical channel scheduling is proposed. The motivation behind the proposed approach and its descripton are presented. The approach is evaluated and compared against the conventional demand multiplexing for a wide range of system parameters. The results demonstrate significant potential for designing high performance wormhole systems to support prioritized traffic.
