Abstract
A series of novel N-(2-(4-chlorobenzoyl)benzofuran-3-yl)-3-(substituted)-pmpanamide derivatives was designed and synthesized. The structures of compounds were confirmed on the basis of their elemental analysis and spectral data. All the compounds were screened for anticonvulsant activity using maximal electroshock seizure (MES) and subcutaneous metrazol (scMET) seizure test. Among the tested compound 6h was found to be the most active in both MES and scMET seizure test at 30 and 100 mg/kg, respectively, at 0.5 and 4.0 h comparable to that of standard drugs phenytoin and carbamazepine. All the compounds showed sign of neurological deficit in the rotarod test.
