Abstract
Two methods designed to allow access to PA/PDMS copolymers have been investigated. In the first one, omega -silyltriflate PA serves as macroinitiator for the cationic ring opening polymerization of cyclic siloxanes. The second method is symmetrical to the former one and resorts ot PDMS as macroinitiator. Provided the latter polymer is fitted with acyllactam function and appropriate activating agents are used, PA blocks or graft are generated upon anionic polymerization of epsilon -CL. It turned out that the method based on PDMS as macroinitiator is the best suited of the two for the synthesis of well-defined block and graft PA/PDMS copolymers.
