Hippurates of V(III), Cr(III) and Fe(III) were isolated as solids with the general formula; [V(hip) 3]·15H 2O, [Cr(hip) 3]·6H 2O and [Fe(hip) 3]·1.5H 2O. The compounds were characterized from elemental analysis, infrared spectra, 1H NMR, electronic spectra and thermogravimetric analysis and proof that metal–ligand coordination involves only via the carboxylate group.
