The reactions of the polyoxometalate [Mo36O108(NO)(4)(H2O)(16)](12-) with EuCl3 center dot 6H(2)O and Tm-2(SO4)(3) center dot 8H(2)O afford the coordination polymers with the following composition: (H3O)(3.67){Eu(H2O)(4)}{Eu(H2O)(6)}(2) {Mo-36(NO)(4)O-108(H2O)(16))}Cl-0.67 center dot 29.5H(2)O and (H3O)(5) [{Tm(H2O)(6)}(2){Tm(H2O)} {Mo-36(NO)(4)O-108(H2O)(16)}]Cl-2 center dot 45H(2)O, respectively, in which the polyoxometalate fragments are linked to each other by lanthanide cations to form infinite chains.
