Abstract
Potassium Titanate nanorods have been synthesized by solid state method. The precursors for the synthesis of K2Ti8O17 were Potassium carbonate and Titania nanoparticles. The as synthesized Titanate nanorods have been characterized into various instrumentation techniques such as XRD, FT-IR, SEM and TEM. The crystallite size of the catalyst was found to be around 32 nm. The UV-Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy resulted the band gap of the K2Ti8O17 catalyst as 3.2 eV. SEM and TEM observations proved that the Titanate is in one dimensional nature as nanorod. The photocatalytic activity of K2Ti8O17 nanorods was evaluated towards the degradation of Rhodamine-6G. The antimicrobial activity of the catalysts was also studied and discussed in detail.
