Abstract
One pot three-component coupling reaction, of methyl-3-methyl-4-nitrobutanoate 3, aromatic aldehyde 4-6 and ammonium acetate 7 or amines 8-10 in ethanol afforded 5-nitropiperidin-2-ones 11-17. Furthermore, condensation of ethyl cyanoacetate 18 with 4-methylpentan-2-one 19, the appropriate aromatic aldehyde 4-6, 20-23, and ammonium acetate 7 in ethanol gave the corresponding pyridin-2-(1H)-ones 24-30. Newly synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and spectral data.
