Abstract
Synthesis of a library of twenty one 4-acridonecarbohydrazide was carried out under microwave-irradiations and there in-vitro antimicrobial activity were evaluated against different bacterial and fungal strain species. All twenty one derivatives were found to be moderate to very active against different microbial strains. In case of in vitro Gram positive antibacterial activity, significant activity was observed for MRSA, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and Corynebacterium xerosis. Compound 8, 10 and 12 were displayed significant activity against S. aureus, whereas compound 9 and 17 against Staphylococcus saprophyticus. However, in Gram negative bacterial activity all derivatives besides 23, 25 and 27 were found to be potent against Salmonella paratyphi A, Salmonella paratyphi B, Shigella dysenteriae, and Shigella flexnerii than against Escherichia coli multidrug resistance and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC, while compound 20 was found to be most active than rest of the compounds against S. paratyphi A strains. Nevertheless, in case of antifungal activity significant zone of inhibition was observed for compound 22 against Aspergillus niger, while moderate activity experience against Aspergillus flavus, Candida albicans, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Candida tropicalis fungal species.
