Abstract
Herein, novel 5-arylazosalicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone derivatives (H2L1-12) and their copper(II) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by NMR, IR and UV-Vis spectra and TGA/DTA. The accumulated data exhibit that thiosemicarbazone derivatives bind with copper ion via the deprotonated phenolic-OH, azomethine-N and deprotonated thiol-SH groups. Accordingly, composition of the complexes can be presented as CuL center dot H2O. The TGA analysis of Cu(II) complexes have revealed their thermal stability up to ca. 170 degrees C.
