Abstract

A resorcinarene cavitand substituted by four -CH2PPh2 pendant arms was synthesised starting from a generic C-5-resorcinarene. Combining this tetraphosphine with palladium acetate and Cs2CO3 gave an active Heck catalyst. The highest activities were observed by using a tetraphosphine/Pd ratio of ca. 1:1.
