Abstract
This work provides practical data required for estimation the radiation doses to residents and construction worker using marble containing elevated activities of natural radionucides, used in Saudi Arabia. The HPGe was used in this study to determine the natural radionuclides in marbles. The obtained results of absorbed dose rate, radium equivalent activity, annual effective dose equivalent, and external hazard Index values showed the studied marbles possessed insignificant risk. The reported data by HPGe were plugged in MCNP simulation. The MCNP showed the simulated and experimental data were comparable. A previous chemical data analyzed by ICP-MS were statistically correlated with natural radionuclides in marbles and no positive or negative relationship was found.
