A non-isothermal mathematical model is developed for the ammonia synthesis in a fluidized bed reactor, based on the two phase theory of fluidization and taking into account the change in number of moles accompanying the reaction. The model is used in a preliminary theoretical investigation to study the advantages of using fluidized bed technology for ammonia synthesis. An industrial fixed bed converter is used as the basis for comparison.
