Abstract
Encapsulated droplet formation of viscoelastic compound liquid jets has numerous applications in industrial processes. To understand this process, the Oldroyd-B model is used. It is common in many industrial applications that the fluid is often a mixture of various fluids - typically polymers or other additives - which cause the fluid to behave like a non-Newtonian fluid. In this paper, the governing equations are reduced to one-dimensional equations by using an asymptotic approach. Moreover, we use Newton's method to obtain the steady state solutions. We therefore perform the linear instability theory to derive the dispersion relation. From our results, we estimate the break-up lengths of viscoelastic compound liquid jets.
