Abstract
Thailandiomyces gen. nov. (Diaporthales) is described from senescent trunks of a palm (Licuala longicalycata) in a peat swamp. Phylogenetic analysis of Thailandiomyces was undertaken, with partial SSU and LSU rDNA sequences. Our morphological and molecular results show that this genus is well placed in the Diaporthales. However, it is not related to Diaporthe the genus it most closely resembles morphologically. It differs from Diaporthe species in number of characters: partially immersed to superficial ascomata, ascospore measurements, bipolar appendages, not surrounded by a mucilaginous sheath, and with Craspedodidymum licuolae Pinruan as its anamorph. This is the first report of a teleomorph for the genus Craspedodidymum.
