Abstract
The effective performance and ensuring sustainability of the manufacturing companies in Nigeria is determined by the effectiveness of their HRM practices. However, extant literatures on HRM have been quite on the effect of HRM practices (e.g., motivating employees, result oriented appraisal,
career management system, organisational culture, and rewards and awards) on company performance and sustainability, particularly in the Nigerian manufacturing industries. In view of the foregoing, this paper proposes a research framework that explains the connection among HRM practices and
company performance and/survival in the context of Nigerian industrial sector. The theoretical perspectives of human capital theory and resource-based theory were employed in this study. The study aims at highlighting the effect of HRM practices on organizational performance and survival in
the context of Nigerian manufacturing segment. The paper discussed, concluded and made recommendations for future empirical studies.
