Abstract
•The crash of an airplane in the French Alps resulted in the death of 150 people.•The co-pilot has been accused of deliberately bringing down the plane.•The co-pilot is believed to be suffering from depression and suicidal ideation.•Pilots may omit their psychiatric illnesses to protect their aviation license.•A more open, transparent and acceptable environment we can prevent tragedies.
