Abstract
The effect of one of the most important parameters of concrete mixtures namely water to cement ratio (W/C), on shielding properties of ordinary concrete has been investigated.
Seventy five cubic specimens, of five different water to cement ratios, were prepared. The attenuation coefficients were measured for Cs-137 gamma source and Am–Be neutron source.
Statistical evaluation has shown that there is no significant effect for the changes in W/C ratio on shielding properties of ordinary concretes. Differences in the decrease of the attenuation are within the statistical errors range.
