Abstract
نظرا لندرة الأبحاث المتعلقة بأثر العوامل المحفزة على زيادة الإنتاج البحثي بين أعضاء هيئة تدريس طب الأسنان٬ فقد درس هذا البحث الرابط بين ما يحفز أعضاء هيئة تدريس طب الأسنان في المملكة العربية السعودية لإجراء البحوث وكفاءتهم الذاتية في ذلك. كما قام هذا البحث بتحليل العوامل التي قد تسهم في تحديد الحاجة إلى دراسات أعمق في ذلك.
أُجريت دراسة نوعية على ٢١عضو هيئة تدريس يعملون في كليات طب أسنان مختلفة في المملكة العربية السعودية.
تشمل الاحتياجات الأساسية لأعضاء هيئة التدريس في كليات طب الأسنان المكافأة الجيدة، والمرافق البحثية الكافية، وتمويل البحوث والمساندة. أبدى بعض الباحثين بوضوح حاجة أكبر لتنمية إنتاجيتهم البحثية. وشعر هؤلاء الباحثون بأن تعزيز الإنتاجية البحثية مفيد لهم منحيث إنه سيزيد من نطاق معرفتهم٬ والذي بدوره سيجعلهم أعضاء هيئة تدريس أفضل. إضافة إلى ذلك٬ فإن زيادة الإنتاجية البحثية ستحسّن من وضعهم ضمن المجتمع الأكاديمي العالمي.
حددت هذه الدراسة بوضوح غياب التمويل والدعم المناسبين إضافة إلى عدم وجود المرافقوالتسهيلات البحثية الكافية كعقبات للإنتاجية البحثية لأعضاء هيئة تدريس طب الأسنان. كما تحتاج كليات طب الأسنان في المملكة العربية السعودية إلى تعزيز جهودها وتوفير المرافق اللازمة لتحفيز أعضاء هيئة التدريس للقيام بالمزيد من البحوث.
In light of the scarcity of literature regarding the impact of motivational factors on research productivity among dental faculty members, this research examined the link between dental faculty members' motivation in the KSA and their self-efficacy about research. This study also analysed the factors that may contribute to the need for conducting more in-depth research.
A qualitative study was performed on a group of 21 respondents working in different dental colleges in the KSA.
The fundamental needs for faculty members in dental schools include good remuneration, adequate research facilities, funding for research, and support. Some of the researchers clearly showed a greater need for increasing their own research productivity. These researchers felt that enhancing research productivity would benefit them positively because it would increase their scope of knowledge, which in turn would make them better faculty members. In addition, increased research productivity would also improve their status within the global academic community.
This study has clearly identified the lack of proper funding and support along with a lack of adequate research facilities as barriers to their research productivity. Dental colleges in the KSA need to promote faculty efforts and provide facilities to motivate their faculty members to perform more research.
