Abstract
Primary malignant tumors of the small intestine are rare tumors. They represent 1-5% of all tumors of the digestive tract. They are characterized by a pathological heterogeneity and poor and non specific symptoms resulting in a delay in diagnostis, therapeutic problems and therefore a poor prognosis.
We report the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of patients with primary malignant tumors of the small intestine in the gastroenterology department of the University Hospital of Marrakech.
This is a retrospective analysis of the clinical records of 11 patients. The median age was 47.15 years (30-70 years). Abdominal pain and gastrointestinal bleeding were the most common symptoms. Adenocarcinoma were predominant.. Surgical treatment was indicated in 6cases. Curative chemotherapy was performed in 1case of lymphoma of the distal ileal, and palliative chemotherapy was indicated in 3 cases.
