Abstract
Thiazolidinones are an important class of heterocyclic compounds, derived from thiazolidine, which comprises an important family of heterocyclic compounds containing nitrogen and sulfur in a five membered ring. This family of compounds is considered highly important owing to their interesting biological activities. Based on the position of the carbonyl group, different isomers of thiazolidinones, such as 2‐thiazolidinones, 4‐thiazolidinones, 5‐thiazolidinones are known to exist. 4‐thiazolidinones and their derivatives are the most important and diversely studied molecules. In this review the different synthetic routes to this important class of molecules are presented, along with their biological activities.
