Abstract
The presented research work is an effort for monitoring mercuric ions using electrochemical sensor developed by the immobilization of Threonine over the surface of the glassy carbon electrode. Numerous experimental parameters are optimized, including several cycles, deposition potential, accumulation time, supporting electrolytes, and pH, modifier's concentration, and scan rate. The designed sensor demonstrates good voltammetric response in testing media with different pH and temperature, represents a good recovery rate and significant electrocatalytic activity. Accordingly, the calibration plot demonstrates the limit of detection (LOD) is equivalent to the unitary of mu M. Alongside square wave voltammetry (SWV) shows a good sensitivity in doubly distilled water at considerable low accumulation time (AT) of 90 s. Besides, the performance of our designed sensor, it also get examined in presence of various interfering agents that reflected its good anti-interference ability and exhibits an remarkable response to the detection of water toxins. The results obtained at the designed electrochemical sensor holds great promise for providing useful guidelines to the environmental stakeholders to frame laws for monitoring water pollution.
