Abstract
Tetramethyl tin reacts with dodecatungstosilicic acid H4SiW12O40 in anhydrous DMSO with evolution of methane to yield the trimethyl tin salt of the heteropolyoxometalate [alpha-SiW12O40][(CH3)(3)Sn(DMSO)(2)](4)center dot 2DMSO. The structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction and shows that there is no direct bond between the polyoxometalate and the tin complex. Sn-119 NMR indicates that tin has quite the same coordination in the solid state and in DMSO solution. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
