Abstract
Tripodaphyrins are tetrahedral or pyramidal assemblies in which a porphyrin macrocycle, situated on the top of the molecule, is “supported” by three “legs” consisting of linear arrays of rigid constitutive elements. The present work describes the synthesis of two representative examples (
1 and
2) of this novel class of molecules.
Tripodaphyrins (
e. g.
1) are tetrahedral or pyramidal assemblies in which a porphyrin macrocycle, situated on the top of the molecule, is “supported” by three “legs” consisting of linear arrays of rigid constitutive elements. Owing to their geometry, tripodaphyrins should be useful for nanofabrication experiments.
