Abstract
Common variable immunodeficiency (CVI) refers to an immunologically heterogeneous group of disorders characterised by generalised failure of antibody synthesis. Affected individuals are prone to recurrent microbial infection and increased susceptibility to autoimmune, gastrointestinal, neoplastic and inflammatory disorders. A delay of several years between initial onset and the diagnosis of CVI is typical. This case report describes the fatal outcome of a middle aged female who was diagnosed with CVI, but only one day before her death.
