Abstract
The main focus of these investigations is to introduce a simple, eco-friendly technique for producing high quality sheets of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) by applying an ultrahigh energy laser, coupled with sonication, as an energetic thermal effect promoter to replace removal of oxygen by treating graphene oxide (GO) with ordinary thermal treatments or a combination of chemical and thermal processes. The results indicated that doses from an industrial ultrahigh energy laser with an output of 1650W. coupled with sonication, suffice to reduce graphene oxide (GO) and convert it into reduced graphene oxide (rGO) within the range of a 60-minute experiment. Raman spectra, x-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy were used to confirm the presence and measure the structure quality of the reduced form of graphene oxide. Results obtained confirmed that applied laser doses coupled with sonication succeeded to produce rGO with good structural features.
