Abstract
CHEMICAL TREATMENT of used lubricating oils produces acid sludge as a waste product which contains a multi-component resin compound. The compound has been characterized and evaluated by using spectrophotometric (XRD, uv-vis) and theological measurements. The resin was incorporated in anti-corrosive paintformulations to partially or completely replace the alkyd resin. The physical and mechanical properties of dry painted film were determined. Promising results were achieved showing good mechanical and corrosion resistance properties for steel protection. The results favour the application of this multi-component resin from the environmental and economical points of view.
