Abstract
The roof-top performance of a V-trough concentrator with a two-axis tracker device was evaluated in Cairo, Egypt. The two flat mirrors composing the concentrator are fixed so that the reflecting surfaces face each other. Electrical gains associated with polycrystalline and amorphous silicon solar cells inserted into the concentrator were measured for 1 yr. The device demonstrated a good concentrating ratio, and a 40% increase in cell output with amorphous Si cell operation was documented.
