University of Alabama (UA) Process: In this technology, the phosphate mineral is depressed by sulfuric acid at pH 5.5 to 6.0 without a specific apatite depressant and without conditioning the pulp with the collector. According to this process, a few drops of pine oil are added as a frother to enhance froth formation. Application of this technique on Indian and Chinese dolomitic phosphate ores produced high-grade concentrates (35% to 38% P^sub 2^O^sub 5^, 0.8% to 1.0% MgO) with high recoveries (80% to 85%)...
